Looking for writers

So, I have this idea. I want to create a sci-fi storyline and let readers build the world. I want to use some of the great community tools that are being developed along with creative commons to encourage fan fiction.

The key to launching this successfully will be the initial storyline. I need some help in that department. I am looking for some writers.

If you are interested or know someone, contact me (todd at apennyfor [dot] com) and I’ll give you more info.

bizblogdirectory

This is my periodic post on the bizblogdirectory wiki. We have 103 business related blogs in the directory now. If your blog fits the bill, jump over there and add it.

Over the weekend, the directory was attacked, deleted, and copied over. When I started, I wondered how long it would take for something like that to happen. It took six months for us. What is great about wikis is they remember revisions and it was not difficult at all to restore the directory.

We will live on!

My Strengths

I took the Now, Discover Your Strengths Quiz this morning and found my strength themes are:

  • Input – People strong in the Input theme have a craving to know more. Often they like to collect and archive all kinds of information.
  • Learner – People strong in the Learner theme have a great desire to learn and want to continuously improve. In particular, the process of learning, rather than the outcome, excites them.
  • Futuristic – People strong in the Futuristic theme are inspired by the future and what could be. They inspire others with their visions of the future.
  • Ideation – People strong in the Ideation theme are fascinated by ideas. They are able to find connections between seemingly disparate phenomena.
  • Intellection – People strong in the Intellection theme are characterized by their intellectual activity. They are introspective and appreciate intellectual discussions.

I found it interesting. I wrote a little more about the book over at 800-CEO-READ.

The Peacekeeper Wars

This weekend, Sci-Fi is premiering Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars.

The trailer on apple.com is unique (I haven’t seen it anywhere else) and if you are not familiar with the series, gives you a great flavor for Farscape.

For all you fans that mourned the loss, you need be sitting in front of your TV on Sunday at 9/8C.

We want them to make more, don’t we?

Filling the Gap

WSJ put some numbers to my post about competitors moving to fill the Vioxx gap.

At stake: Vioxx’s $2.5 billion in 2003 sales. Marketers have only a brief opportunity to pounce. “People are going to go with something in 10 days, whatever period, two weeks. How long do you wait?” asks John V. Allen of Lippincott Mercer, a brand consultant. As long as would-be substitutes refrain from pointing fingers at Merck, he says, they shouldn’t raise hackles.

And here are the pitches the alternatives are using:

  • “Don’t Let The Recent News About Your Arthritis Medicine Stop You From Treating Your Arthritis Pain” — Tylenol Arthritis Pain
  • “With All The Recent News On Prescription Vioxx, You May Be Asking What The Right Pain Reliever Is For You.” — Advil
  • “Celebrex has been making people with pain and arthritis feel better for years. And now we want to ease your mind too.” — Celebrex
  • “If You Were Prescribed VIOXX For Your OSTEOARTHRITIS or RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS Ask Your Doctor If Mobic Is Right For You.” — Mobic
