The Apprentice – Episode III

Score: Women 3 Men 0

What can you say? The men are getting trounced.

The challenge this week was negotiation. Each team was given a shopping list with the following items:

  • 1 oz. bar of 24K Gold
  • Callaway Big Bertha Driver
  • 5 lbs. of fresh squid
  • A pack of cigars (don’t remember the brand)
  • A leg waxing for one team member
  • Poloroid (600?) camera

The team were given approximate retail values for each item and challenged to spend the least amount to acquire the items. The women were able to negotiate price reductions amounting to 22%, while the men were only able to get 9%.

That brings me to this week’s lesson:
Execution – The men are losing because they are not executing on the task they are given. Last week, there didn’t seem to be much organization as they prepared for the pitch to Deutsch & Co. This week, the idea of seperate field and office teams was terrible. They were running all over NYC at the last minute to get the items they needed.

If you have been under a rock, Sam got fired with the words, “Isn’t it over, Sam?”

We’ll see if this helps Versacorp.
